“Breeders and trainers from across the country have gathered in Brandon, Manitoba, for the National Arabian Horse Championship. ‘It’s quite a large competition. We’re talking about several disciplines represented throughout this championship,’ says Ariane Gravel, co-owner of Arabel Stables in Québec.

Ms. Gravel, who specializes in Arabian horses, explains that these animals are unique because of their closeness to humans and their very distinctive physical characteristics. On top of that, they are intelligent and remarkably expressive.”

“It’s a breed that was brought here in the early 1900s to improve other breeds.”

“Endurance, speed, and temperament are among the main traits that riders appreciate in Arabian horses. These animals have helped improve just about every breed that has since become popular around the world, explains Ms. Gravel.

The championship in Brandon began on August 7 and runs until August 16.”
